Now in its seventh edition, the Smart City Expo World Congress arrives in Barcelona for two days, attracting over 17,000 visitors, 650 exhibitors, and 420 speakers from over 700 cities from 120 countries. It aims to unite international cities to overcome common challenges, such as population growth, climate change, traffic congestion and pollution, lack of affordable housing, education and health, immigration and more. Through active participation, awareness and understanding and critical reflection, the event hopes that cities can come together to make important decisions and take control of the future. It identifies business opportunities to help establish partnerships, shares knowledge and research for more informed cities across borders, and leverages the implementation and monitoring of global agendas.
The 2017 edition will cover topics linked to smarter and more sustainable cities, such as governance, mobility, safe cities, data and technology and economy. There will be three keynote sessions from Bettina Warburg, Co-Founder of Animal Ventures, Robert Muggah, Research Director and Co-Founder of Igarapé Institute, and Dr Joan Clos, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, alongside three inspirational talks and 66 thematic sessions.
Smart City Expo World Congress is recognised at the meeting point and innovative platform for businesses, entrepreneurs, researchers, governments and more to network and take advantage of opportunities for action.
